Memory Project
Original portrait

Original art work submission for The Memory Project.  The Memory Project is a non-profit of student created portraits for youth that have experienced severe challenges such as homelessness, neglect, abuse or loss of a parent.  Using a photo provided by a youth in Peru, I created an original art work portrait.  This project provides helped to focus my art toward other and opened my eyes to issues facing children globally.

Charity Zine work

Through online communities of some of my favorite shows I help in the making of fan made magazines whose profits go towards charities decided on by contributors of the project. For these projects we were required to pitch our idea to the main moderator of the zine and have it approved before moving forward and giving regular check ins by certain dates over a period of a few months:

Someone Will Remember Us (An Ineffable Wives Zine)

In this zine we were tasked with depicting a specific period of dress from around the globe, requiring us to independently conducting our own research into the subject so as that our final pieces were historically accurate while remaining visually interesting. The profits from this zine were donated towards the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a legal aid organization that serves transgender or gender non-conforming people of color.

The Antichrist-mas Zine (A Good Omens Holiday Zine)

Contributors of this zine were asked to follow to looser set guidelines of making a piece that evoked the feeling of winter joy and overall happiness. Profits made from this zine were donated to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) which is an agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children in need worldwide.

Homeless Assistance

Homeless Children Holiday Stockings

Throughout High School and Junior High, I've participated in Holiday Stockings for homeless youth.  This event is sponsored by the US Coast Guard and provides handmade stockings to homeless youth during the holiday season.  As part of the event, I worked filling stockings with essentials and small gifts. The filled stockings are distributed to youth age infant to 18.

Homeless Adults

As a member of Girl Scouts, our troop has been actively involved in assisting homeless adults throughout the region.  These efforts include engaging directly with tent cities that serve homeless adults.  Our worked involved gathering and distributing needed items such as socks, toothbrush/toothpaste, and personal hygiene items.  As well as production and service of food.  Another important aspect of our engagement was to connect with the people sitting and talking with those participants as they desired.
